Maria Chidiroglou holds a degree on History and Archaeology from the University of Athens (1986), attended archaeological seminars in the University of London (1986-1990) and holds a PhD degree on Classical Archaeology from the University of Athens (2012).

She worked (short-term) in the Archaeological Ephorates of Lamia and Thebes and as a volunteer in the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. After entering the Archaeological Service (on exam), she worked in the Ephorate of Euboea (1994-2005), as field archaeologist for southern Euboea and responsible for the Archaeological Museum of Karystos, which was renovated in 2000. She worked (2005-2010) in the Directorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities of the Greek Ministry of Culture.

As of 2010, curator of the Department of the Collection of Vases and Minor Arts of the National Archaeological Museum, also in charge of the Museum Photographic Archive (administration member of a EU-Greek Project, 2014-2020).

She has participated in a number collaboration research programs undertaken by Universities and foreign Archaeological Institutes. Honorary member of the Society of Euboean Studies.
