Art Exhibition “Karousos’ Archive: Back to the Future”at the Museum Cafe
The “Karousos’ Archive” exhibition presents Yannis Karousos’ work, offering an immersive experience to the visitor, by means of augmented reality, at the Café of the National Archaeological Museum.
An exceptional exhibition of unpublished drawings by the famous Greek artist Yannis Karousos is about to be inaugurated at the Café of the National Archaeological Museum. The exhibition engages the visitor into interactive contact with the creations of the painter who brought a spirit of renaissance to the Orthodox monumental art of the 20th century.
Known for his monumental frescoes that adorn the interior of the two largest churches in Greece, Karousos’ work is characterized by his innovative compositions and avant-garde style of painting. The exhibition presents the drawings of the artist’s most important fresco ensembles, enabling the visitor to enjoy an unparalleled experience, since, through augmented reality, the frescoes come to life and inspire awe. This pioneering approach allows for a deeper understanding of Karousos’ artistic legacy and its lasting influence on contemporary Orthodox monumental art.
A few words about the painter: Yannis Karousos was a visionary artist whose art continues to inspire and captivate audiences around the world. His monumental frescoes, including those of the imposing churches of Agios Panteleimonas on Acharnon Street in Athens and Agios Andreas in Patras, are considered masterpieces of contemporary Orthodox monumental art. The Karousos’ Archives entity , in its effort to preserve and promote the artist’s legacy, plays a crucial role in ensuring his artistic vision.
