Christina Avronidaki is Curator in the Department of Vases, Metalwork and Minor Arts. She studied Archaeology and Art History at the University of Athens, and received her Master’s degree and PhD in Classical Archaeology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Her research focuses on red-figure pottery and vase painting of the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. emphasizing on local workshops, antiquities dealers of the late 19th and 20th centuries through archival sources, and coroplastic issues.
She has published articles in Greek and foreign periodicals on Attic and local red-figure workshops, two monographs on Boeotian red-figure pottery and vase painting, chapters in books and archaeological guidebooks, the small guidebook on the National Museum terracotta figurines (together with E. Vivliodetis), and small studies on archival subjects. She has participated in conferences in Greece and abroad, while for the past years she is involved in an international interdisciplinary programme on the polychromy of terracotta figurines.
