Vassiliki Pliatsika has a PhD in Prehistoric Archaeology at the University of Athens specialising in the Mycenaean culture. She was awarded scholarships from both the State Scholarship Foundation and the Onassis Foundation, facilitating the successful completion of her studies.
She has participated in excavation of prehistoric sites in Greece and Cyprus and is a member of international archaeological projects.
From 2000 on, she worked as a Research Fellow in the Academy of Athens and the Archaeological Society at Athens in the Study and Publication Project of the Mycenae Excavations. In 2011 she was appointed as a permanent archaeologist at the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and has served in regional and central services.
She has presented her work in the form of conference papers and lectures as an invited speaker in Greece, Europe, and the United States. She has published on the iconography, religion and pottery of the Bronze Age Aegean, the history of Greek archaeology and the reception of antiquity in modern times.
