Art exhibition of Minas Semerjian “Ephemeral beauty or timeless emotion? A long journey of exploration” at the National Archaeological Museum’s Cafe
In the Cafe of the Museum, on Wednesday, July 5, at 18:00, Minas Semerjian’s exhibition opens with the title: “Ephemeral beauty or timeless emotion?” A long journey of exploration.”
Among other things, the artist states: “The image is the greatest enemy of painting” Kazimir Malevich had written in relation to one of his exhibitions. “The image limits the freedom of expression”. This phrase changed the course of my painting.
I started looking for ways to deconstruct the image. During this process, the invisible, the non-portrayed, began to surface, which are even more real than the visible. So, I came to dismantle the image in favor of painting.
“Art is not a decorative product, but a weapon against the enemy” Joseph Beuys had once said. The purpose of painting is not to please, but to move. Beauty is fleeting, but emotion endures.
Opening of the exhibition: Monday, July 10 2023, time 18:00 – 20:00
Exhibition duration: July 5, 2023 – August 4, 2023
Editing – Coordination: Emilia Kougia
