“Passage” an art exhibition by Vasiliki Koskiniotou at the Museum Café
In the café of the Hellenic National Archaeological Museum, from January 21, to February 15, 2025, Vasiliki Koskiniotou’s solo exhibition entitled “Passage” will be hosted.
Passage, transition, crossing to the other half of the moon. Transition to light, to infinity, to memory. The exhibition is titled after the final rite of passage and is dedicated to the memory of the painter’s father.
Seventeen earlier and more recent artworks as an equal number of narrative moments oscillating between poetic realism and abstraction, often resorting to the symbol of the ladder and the lantern, as another supernatural fruit, in this context of the ‘prayer trees’, but also to the symbolism of the wing and its dynamics when unfolding towards the flee it embodies.
In her eleventh solo exhibition, Vasiliki Koskiniotou presents her works in two sub-sections: five large canvases using familiar to her materials: oils, oil pastels and oil sticks, and twelve smaller works on paper with oil pastels and graphites. Their bulk forms a series of ‘small portraits of angels’ that allude mainly to male figures, in a mood of inner search and introspection.
Their atmosphere is nocturnal, poetic, and here prevails the intention of contemplating over the usually chromatically bold expressionistic style of V. Koskiniotou’s painting.
